Seamless Installation of Prefinished Bamboo Flooring in Campton Hills, Illinois
At Stand Up Flooring, we recently had the privilege of working on an exciting project in Campton Hills, Illinois, where we installed prefinished bamboo flooring throughout a beautiful home. This project required a blend of precision, expertise, and the right materials to ensure a flawless finish that would stand the test of time.
The scope of the project involved two distinct flooring installations:
First Floor Installation: We installed the bamboo flooring using a combination of glue and staples to secure the planks firmly. This method provides extra durability, especially for high-traffic areas, ensuring the floor remains stable and beautiful for years to come.
Basement Installation: The basement presented a unique challenge, as it featured a concrete subfloor with a built-in heating system. To address this, we used moisture and heat barrier glue, specifically Bostik Pro MSP, known for its exceptional adhesive strength and compatibility with heated floors. This glue not only prevents moisture penetration but also allows for thermal expansion, making it the ideal choice for this environment.
Moisture Protection: Installing flooring over concrete requires meticulous attention to moisture management. By selecting a high-performance glue, we ensured the bamboo floor would remain stable and resistant to warping or buckling.
Heated Floors: Working with built-in heating systems demands careful planning and precise application to avoid disrupting the system while ensuring proper adhesion. The use of Bostik Pro MSP allowed us to maintain the integrity of the heating system while achieving a secure bond.
Concrete Preparation in the Basement: Before applying the adhesive, we thoroughly scraped and buffed the concrete floor to remove any residue or imperfections. This was followed by the application of Eco Prim Grip primer, which enhances adhesion and creates a strong foundation for the bamboo flooring.
Custom Flush Floor Vents on the First Floor: To elevate the aesthetics further, we installed special flush floor vents with a customizable center tray. These vents seamlessly blend into the flooring, offering a cohesive and polished look while maintaining functionality.
The entire project spanned 7 days, reflecting the complexity of working across two levels with different subfloor conditions. The total cost of labor and materials (excluding the cost of wood) came to approximately $14,000, a testament to the high-quality materials and expert floor installation techniques employed.
The result is a home transformed by the elegance of bamboo flooring, offering a warm and inviting aesthetic. The combination of thoughtful material selection and professional installation has created a floor that is not only visually stunning but also built to withstand everyday life.
